A lot will change in the Netherlands in the coming 30 years in the field of energy, also in Leiden. Are you looking for satisfaction by making your energy use more sustainable? Do you want to help your neighbours save energy in their own language?
Multilingual energy helpdesk
In the Energy Helpdesk for Migrants project, our volunteers/energy coaches offer information and advice about referrals to and guidance and mediation with energy companies. This also includes collaboration with neighbourhood ambassadors, energy coaches and the organisation Ga Goed for agreements on energy-saving options. The LSM aims for an Energy Helpdesk in various languages; in addition to Dutch, English and Arabic, it also includes French, Persian, Turkish, Tigrinya and more.
The aim is to reach as many groups and multilingual residents in Leiden as possible. In order to gain a better insight into energy poverty, it is important to look not only at the affordability of the energy bill, but also at the quality of the home and the possibilities for residents to make it more sustainable.
The volunteers/energy coaches visit people at home and not only provide tips and advice, but also make small changes in the home for free, such as installing draught excluders and radiator foil.
Who are we looking for?
You are enthusiastic, sociable, friendly, polite and internationally oriented. Someone who likes to chat with their neighbours and speaks Arabic, Turkish, Persian, Amharic, Tigrinya, English, Spanish, French or other languages in addition to Dutch.
Do you want to build up experience and knowledge with sustainability and energy saving? Are you in the early stages of your working career in the Netherlands? Do you enjoy being active as a volunteer? Then this is definitely something for you!
